This summer saw Oscar Maddrell compete at the Annual English Summer Champs at Ponds Forge in Sheffield in the 13 years males and open category after earlier season success at the Lancashire County Champs and North West Regional Champs. It was an amazing experience for him and after some initial nerves he soon found his stride making not only the finals in 5 of the 8 events that he qualified for, but also took home Bronze in the 400m and 800 free and SILVER in the 200m and 1500m free!

Head coach Max Stewart said: Well done Oscar another Silver for your last race of a busy week of swimming at the Summer Nationals. You have excelled in your swims especially in middle and distance free events. Today you have dropped an amazing 5.5 seconds of your PB to take the silver medal on the 12/13 200 free, second fastest in GB. This brings your tally to a fantastic 2 silver and 2 bronze medals when on the rankings going into the Nationals you were ranked outside the top 3, great swimming and pb times. Now have a good summers rest and come back to training hungry for more. WELL DONE OSCAR
